Project on Developing a Multi Purpose Autonomous Robot with Digital Twin–Based System Diagnosis and Adaptive Control
Today, unmanned ground vehicles are actively used in both military and civilian sectors. By equipping UGVs with capabilities such as path planning and adaptation to changing environmental conditions, they can be made autonomous and independent of human control. In this project, the goal is to enhance the autonomous capabilities of a ground robot using digital twin technology. Improvements will be implemented on an unmanned ground vehicle that is compatible with ROS and CAN communications but currently lacks autonomous capabilities.
In the system to be developed by TEKNOPAR, the vehicle will be equipped with dynamic modeling, system diagnosis, route planning, and adaptive controllers. Thanks to the digital twin, the vehicle’s speed, position, slope, and environmental data will be monitored remotely. Through bidirectional wireless data transmission between the vehicle and the application, the user will be able to observe and track the vehicle as if it were right in front of them. With adaptive controllers, the vehicle will be able to instantly adapt to changing road and weather conditions. Moreover, by developing the system, it is aimed to provide reliable, efficient, and autonomous solutions for applications such as carrying out safe operations in hazardous environments, automated load transport in warehouses, and unmanned cargo delivery.
The project is supported by TÜBİTAK under the 1501 Industrial R&D Support Program call.
