Digital Twin
A digital twin is a computer-simulated model of a system where the important process parameters are computed using either a first-principles model or a data-based model, or both.
Digital twins can demonstrate the impact of design changes, usage scenarios, environmental conditions, and other variables – eliminating the need for physical prototypes, reducing development time, and improving quality of the finalized product or process. The digital twins evolve and continuously update to reflect any changes to their physical counterparts throughout the product lifecycle, creating closed loop of feedback in a virtual environment which enables companies to continuously optimize their products, production, and performance at a minimal cost.
